Title: Expenses recovery for TerracoinHelpsTheWorld.com

Description

I'm thinking to ask dGov to cover my expenses for the site TerracoinHelpsTheWorld.com.

I began to work on the project around Jannuary 6, 2018.

Initially the idea was to find the way to promote TRC as we had no marketing tool or strategy at that moment.

After some initial test that was not too much successful, but which gave me ideas about how the things should be set up, I went up with the idea of the award, that should be a good tool for us to communicate with our desired audience (the charities) without going too deep into the technical discussion about TRC.

The award form gives us the possibility to use TRC as kind of catalyst of help, because the funds that are available at the moment are not enough to finance some serious initiative and in the same time using that tool we are not only promoting TRC as a means of help, but also are selecting the right charities, i.e. those who are able to understand the unique new opportunities that TRC may offer in their field and those who are working in a really serious manner.

The project is not intended to become the source of my personal gains or ego boosting, because once it's running well I'll let it to the more specialized persons.

If I'd have more resources I'd be able to go on quicker and at the moment I'm forced slow down things because I'm over the limit of my financial possibilities for this project.

So it's a kind of catch 22, we have unused funds that could help us developing this promotional tool, but I'm not asking those funds because I'd like to stay inside of 5-15% fee.

I think if the expense is the website hosting, I'll vote yes. If you also sponsor the local country pioneer/volunteer, which (the cost) is not much and transparent, I'll vote yes. ;-)

Hi John.

I admire you for this ambitious project, and believe it will be an amazing tool for good if realized. You, like me, are an idea guy, and execution is where I personally struggle, so amazing job for the work you've put into this so far!

What specifically are you asking for? $1200 worth of TRC as reimbursement?

It's definitely a catch-22 because that's 7500TRC, and in 3 months at your current pace, you may need another reimbursement. Plus, with the size and scope of this ambitious project, it may take a year or two or three to be where you have the participation needed to sustain. That is quite a commitment if funded through the foundation. If you were given the reimbursement, would you come back again in 3 months looking for more TRC as reimbursement, or do you have another funding option if it get's to that point?

Have you established any metrics as a minimum threshold to keep pursuing this project?

Have you considered downshifting/ slowing down this great project until TRC is closer to $1 or $2?

I just ask to get a better idea of your road map.

I think it would be worth your time to put together a "pilot" project yourself to get the ball rolling. Terracoinhelpstheword would be in a better position if you had a real life example on the website of what your grand vision would entail. For example:

John has organised a group of friends to make and distribute sandwiches to the homeless in his area every Saturday for 3 weeks, and on the 4th Saturday, he and his friends hosted a home-cooked dinner for 30 homeless people at the nearby park. Here are photos of the food and of the dinner. John and his friends have vowed to expand this project in the future, and are an example of what Terracoinhelpstheworld is looking to promote and reward.

Whatever it is, it would be great to have something tangible on the site beyond just this grand vision, so it inspires others. That might be your next best step for progressing this awesome cause?

Hi Schmandy,

thank you very much for your kind words and for having put your time to make me the questions.

Here are my answers:

1) What specifically are you asking for? $1200 worth of TRC as reimbursement?
- The main point of this discovery is not to ask for some specific sum of TRC, but to understand whether we can use the funds that are basically being burned ATM, to accelerate my project instead, since there are no other projects compeetenig for those money and since I'm forced to slow down the pace of my project because the resources I'm available to invest are less then what would be possible to use now to get results quicker. In order to not just asking all the sum available I've made calculations of what I've already invested and I believe that if I'd had that sum reimbursed I'd be able to move at least two times quicker this month.
Of course to reimburse that sum of money the community has to recognize the value of what I've already done.

2) If you were given the reimbursement, would you come back again in 3 months looking for more TRC as reimbursement, or do you have another funding option if it get's to that point?
- This first 3 months of the work on this project it was not that clear for me what are the prospectives of this project, so I was investing my own money and even if sometimes I was urged to put it into a proposal I prefered to wait and see where this project was going. In all that time I dedicated many hours to speak with people that are completely unaware of TRC, with the charities, I worked on the concepts to set up, on proofreading of the site, which gave me new insights because the proofreaders and translators oftens were not able to believe in what I was saying about TRC.
Now the things are settled and I have the tool I needed to work. I also have a person in place that is ready and able to do the serious work that we need. If I'd be able to obtain funds for my project from dGov, I'd be back next month to ask the funds again, especially if I'd be seeing prospectives to do concrete things with those money.
The backup option are my personal funds I'm receiving from my MNs that I'm already investing in this project. With or without dGov funds this project will go on, the question is only if it will move on its maximum speed or at some reduced pace.

3) Have you established any metrics as a minimum threshold to keep pursuing this project?
- As I stated here: https://terracoinhelpstheworld.com/conditions-award this project may be halted by me on January 25, 2019, after one year of my working on it, if there will be no results or no sustain from TRC community. If the things will be going well though I can decide to extend it.

4) Have you considered downshifting/ slowing down this great project until TRC is closer to $1 or $2?
- As I'm investing TRCs I'm making with my MNs (but I'm quite out of budget these days), if TRC will go up 10 times I'll have 10 times more funds, so maybe there will be no need for me to ask dGov funds. By other hand, what I'm trying to do is to make aware in first place the charities of the poorest countries about the opportunities that TRC can offer in their field, before those opportunities are partially exhausted (i.e. when the price of TRC is gone up).

5) I think it would be worth your time to put together a "pilot" project yourself to get the ball rolling.
- Believe me, I'm using all of my spare time right now and I'm not able to do all I'd like to do for this project. Another aspect is that to help people you need to be a specilized, which I'm not. If not its easy to hurt people's sentiment or to do things that are not appropriate or not intended. I have many ideas that would be quite easy to implement though, so if someone would like to participate in this project realizing one of my ideas I'm ready to share them.

Hey John,

OK these answers sound pretty good to me. I know well when you put your energy and your money into something of value, that it's helpful to recover some back.

As I understand it though, the coins are not "burned" but rather, just not mined (which I just learned tonight :)

I will support your proposal should you choose to submit, but I think you need to share more of TerracoinHelpsTheWorld; we want more updates! The more we can all share about it, the more traction it will get. You can post in Sneak Peek channel, and we can share it across our platforms and help you get some eyeballs. I can even put together shirts and buttons and stickers, etc, in the merch shop to help promote.

Of course if these funds are going up against other proposals in the future, I would want to see more specific goals for the use of the funds (just a heads up). Best of luck on your proposal.

Hi Schmandy,
thank you very much for your kind words.
The first phase of my project was very experimental, so often the good news of today was able to transform itself into something different tomorrow, by other hand I'm very goal oriented, so if there is no result I'm not that happy to speak about things.
Now we are entering into a new phase, at least I hope so, so the things should begin happening quicker, that's why I was considering to ask funds to dGov.
I also all about total transparency so I'd like to share every step I'm doing, but sometimes I'm afraid to take too much of people's time and in the same time if I begin publishing very specific infos and how I'm doing things, maybe someone, even in the future, may try to copy us.
But in any case I'll be working on the right formula to keep our community well informed about things.
Thank you very much for your precious advises and support!
